Scale of Chords Thing
This tool is designed to help you explore harmonies with scales. You can use the "Show Chord" button to give you a starter chord, or you can set notes to your own choice. Use the arrow keys/buttons to move/play the notes up or down (horizontally or vertically) along the fretboard fretboard diagram.
Please note:
1. There is no default chord for the chromatic scale.
2. You can only add notes that belong to the selected scale.
Settings:
- Scale Root Note: Use this drop-down menu to set the root note for the scale.
- Scale Type: Use this drop-down menu to set the scale.
- Default Chord: After you select a scale, this label will show the default chord for the selected scale. When the "Show Chord" button is pressed, the Default Chord is the type of chord that will be displayed on the fretboard diagram.
- Select Chord Voicing: This drop-down menu determines the voicing used when the "Show Chord" button is pressed.
Buttons:
- Show Chord: This button will display the default chord. The default chord depends on the selected scale and the selected chord voicing.
- Show Scale Notes: This button serves two functions. First, it toggles on the note names on active notes (red dots). This is the setting by default. Secondly, it toggles on and off the full display of note names of the selected scale (gray dots) across the fretboard diagram.
- Show Scale Intervals: This button serves two functions. First, it toggles on the interval numbers on active notes (red dots). Secondly, it toggles on and off the full display of interval numbers in the selected scale (gray dots) across the fretboard diagram.
- Lock to Inversions: This button turns on and off the inversions mode. When this mode is active, the arrow keys will cycle the active notes to the next inversion of the current chord, rather than to the next available notes in the scale.
- Strum Notes: This button will play a strum sound of the active notes on the fretboard diagram. Also, this button activates the strum sound mode. This means a strum sound will be played every time the arrow keys/buttons are pressed.
- Arpeggiate Notes: This button will play an arpeggiation sound of the active notes on the fretboard diagram. Also, this button activates the arpeggiation sound mode. This means an arpeggiation sound will be played every time the arrow keys/buttons are pressed.
- Clear Fretboard: This button clears away all active notes (red dots) on the fretboard diagram.
- Arrow Buttons: These buttons are used to cycle active notes. Left and right arrows will attempt to cycle notes horizontally. Up and down arrows will attempt to cycle notes across strings.
- Step Back: Each time you press an arrow key, the note movement is stored in memory. Up to 7 steps are retained in memory. This button is used to step back in time through your note movements.
